"Before coming to the clinic I had a back injury which made it painful to twist in either direction. It was also difficult and painful to bend over and do simple things like put on socks or tie my shoes.
Now I am able to fully participate in sports such as flag football and I’m back to lifting weights regularly. I feel no discomfort in my back from my day-to-day activities. I am now able to go back to the gym consistently and actively workout without injuring myself. I also resumed construction work and yard work slowly. "Simple activities like sitting or standing for too long caused discomfort in my lower back. Occasionally, there would be a sharp pain in my right hip while simply walking. At its worst, the pain made it very difficult to even turn or get out of bed. I stopped going to the gym as it worsened the situation.
I am now able to do all those things mostly without pain, and the flare ups are much much less frequent. I am also able to finally do deadlifts in the gym, and I am able feel my core get stronger. My posture has improved and I have gained confidence in performing activities that previously were pain inducing. I had chronic pain in my lower back for 8 months before I saw Dr. Raul. I was diagnosed with anteriolisthesis and had seen multiple physical therapists prior to that, but my pain had recently become more constant. He was able to quickly identify multiple issues that were contributing to my chronic pain and give me corrective exercises that strengthened my core while allowing the injured ligament to heal. Most importantly, he talks through his sessions explaining the logic behind the various muscles involved in the movements. This has helped me massively in gaining awareness of the muscles I had forgotten how to use due to sitting for long hours and general lack of mobility over the years. It is not only helping me with the pain, but also allowing me slowly regain the right posture while performing daily activities. Using the stretching techniques and exercises from Dr. Yang, my lower back pain has gone away and I'm back to work comfortably again. I’m amazed how quickly Dr. Tello has helped me progress and learn safe body mechanics. I’m getting back on the ice in gear and am ready for the new season to start! Dr. Tello started me with exercises much quicker than if I’d waited for the medical referral to come through. This helped my recovery right from the start, learning to engage the muscle chain in a supportive, safe way. I got strength training education I didn’t know I needed, and a good sweat every visit to keep me from feeling atrophy and falling out of shape. He helped me focus on useful exercises and doing what I can, rather than getting stuck in sadness of what I couldn’t do. He used slow-mo videos of exercises to help me understand my body’s weak points better to overcome them. I was nervous with some first steps back to sport, but Dr. Tello helped me progress at a decent pace, working step-wise to help me trust what I can do.
